Ramdan is one such Islamic festival that teaches its followers to imbibe and culture patience and sustenance in life. Ramdan also written as Ramazan, Ramzan, Ramadhan, Ramdan, Ramadaan, begins in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar in which Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad. It is the month of fasting in which the followers do not eat or drink anything from dawn to sunset.

Traditionally the entire month people get up early to eat the pre-dawn meal called Suhoor and then say the prayers the fajr and can continue to eat and drink after sunset till the next days activities begin. This festival is a way of elevating yourself to be closer to God and moving away from all worldly pleasures and materialistic things of life. People pray more than usual and observe measures of self discipline and control also indulge in charity and give away generously to all those are lesser fortunate in life. The purpose is to serve God by serving his people well. At the end of the fasting period it is time for it is time for true celebrations and time for breaking the fast. The day is called Eid ul Fitr.
